Subject: Curvetine Installation in ND

Driftless SW Wisconsin
Funny you should ask - I am currently in NW ND working with some similar situations. Came thru an area of US Hwy 52 with water still over the road... nothing moving in the fields. The guys above covered things pretty well. USUALLY south and east of here when running one Curvetine + one rubber we run both in the front hole opposite each other and usually in the first notch with the std spring. If you have JD or other fertilizer coulters up front it is a good idea to mount the rubber tire on the same side as the fert coulter and the Curvetine on the non fert coulter side of the seed. In your case with worked soft wet maybe RR valley soils in places and small rocks in others, I would stagger the rubber tire to the rear and try at least two outer rows with the lighter JD tail piece springs. It is unbelievable how wet and how wide the river is s of Fargo. As wet as things are and will be for a while LIGHT is the way to go on everything from row unit down pressure to row cleaner settings to closing wheel pressure. This is a good year for the Gfx as well as Curvetines in the Dakotas. Good luck and thank you. Jim at Dawn
