Subject: What's the point of long spouts on your long auger?

Manitoba
Just bought a spout for the end of my new to me 13" x 71' auger. I've always wondered why guys put such long (all 5 sections) spouts on the end of their big augers. I've always thought 2 or 3 sections should be good enough to get the end in the bin without damaging the bin. Or do some like the length hanging down into the bin so if you overfill the bin & the grain gets up to the spout you just break the shear bolt and dont have a bin full to the brim. If you dont hang all that extra spout into the bin you have the auger unneccesarily high. Or is it because you buy the spout with 5 sections you figure you need to use them all. I'm leaning towards just using 3 sections. Thanks.
