The length of the share will be much longer than the width of cut. Thats cause the share is mounted at an angle to the direction of travel.

To measure the width of cut, IE: 14", 16", 18" etc., take something like a carpenters square and hold it to the frog, just above the landside on either the front or center bottom. Make sure the square rests on clean metal, then read the distance across the square to the shin on the trailing bottom. Subtract the amount that shin extends beyond the frog, and you'll have your width of cut. Or,.............you can hook it up and drop it in the ground and measure how many inches of soil each bottom takes.
