| My apologies to BSchroeder - don't mean to hijack your thread. Figured that since we had tranny experts here, maybe they could answer another somewhat related issue.
I have a Mercury Villager mini-van that will go in to reverse ONCE when it's cold. Start it up, back it out of the garage just fine, but attempt to put it in reverse again and it simply will not go - acts just like it's in neutral. I've tried all sorts of things - shifting to Park, drive, ect and back to reverse. Shutting the vehicle off and restarting doesn't work, nothing. Drive it a few miles and then it works fine. As long as it's cold, you have only one shot to back up and get it right or you are stuck.
