I used it today and it worked just fine--slip clutch slips like it should and didn't shear any pins. I think its just a visual thing...if it was pointed the right way you would be able to see the housing on the slip clutch not moving from the tractor cab when it is slipping. With it facing the opposite way it always appears to be moving--so I drew a line on the same spot on all of the friction plates to find out for sure it was slipping.
