Subject: MX 270 gears 1-6 low clutch pressure, what to expect?

Helena, OK

We had a tech out the other day to look at our MX270 and why we were seeing transmission faults when we were only in gears 1-6F and 1-2R.  He looked at the codes and told us that the clutch pressure was low on range 1, so we finished up planting corn and made sure not to operate the tractor in the lower range gears, which he said was fine.  We finished up the other day and was planning on sending it down to the shop, but before we did I wanted to ask you guys what you thought the problem actually was and what it would actually take to repair the problem.  The tech made mention that it could cost over 10K to repair and I thought that was awful high for addressing a low pressure issue with one of the clutches.  We have noticed that when the tractor is in the low range and you put a pull on it you can tell the tranny is slipping, which make sense if the clutch pressure is too low.  Any thoughts on what it will take to repair and what it will cost?
