Subject: JD 760A scraper doesn't move

I believe this is basically a 4620 powershift tractor chassis reconfigured as a scraper tractor. The previous owner used it for a long time and it suddenly stopped. He pulled an oil pan/cover and found lots of brake pad material in the screen and oil. Before shipping it too me he did a quick flush, but was unable to replace the screen. It has a little hydraulic power for the steering and maybe the brakes (pedal seems firm). He had told me I'd have to pull the axle housings and rebuild the brakes (it was cheap, really cheap) and thought the reason for not moving was the brake pad material. I have not pulled the housings yet, but it occurs to me that clutch pack material looks like brake material as well. I'd appreciate any insight/experience with older JD power shift tractors (in case it's more than brake material).

Thanks,

Pat
