Subject: Larsen Lights IP camera, Tablet, follow up. (pics)

Fog/mist delay right now on soybean harvest so I thought I would post a follow up on the Larsen IP camera on my combine from this previous thread.

The Cam Hi app works fine on my Galaxy S7 phone but a little bigger screen seemed like it would be a nice edition plus the ability to take field notes open PDF's, Excel, and Word docs.

There was discussion of low cost Android tablets in this thread.

I was a bit reluctant taking a chance on a no name tablet. I spied this Lenova M7 on Amazon for $59 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084GZTYMW

I also bought a tempered glass screen protector a silicone protective shock cover and a  Ram Mount X Grip tablet holder.

I also added another piece to my original combine RAM mount.

So now I can place my phone and tablet side by side. I may revamp the original and add a couple additional welded studs and do away with the 2 tier design.

Once it arrived I was initially a bit disappointed. Even though it was Android based it did not seem near as handy as my Android phone in the way you navigated around to things especially pictures and files. After a while, I was able to add a couple apps to handle pictures and finding files a bit easier. With that resolved, I went on to add the Cam Hi app. The regular Cam Hi version I used on my phone and the Cam Hi Pro did not work on the Lenova tablet. Either due to being incompatible or perhaps my inability to get it set up correctly (highly possible) . Collegeboy referenced the http://www.meyetech.com/product/ and kindly emailed me the pertinent info. I was able to make one of the versions sort of recognize the camera (rectangular model not the round one from Larsen) The only thing is I could never see any image it just said buffering for like 10 minutes.

I went back to the play store and downloaded this IP Cam Viewer Lite

Edit:  Finally got back into beans and had a chance to test this out more. While IP Cam Viewer Lite locates and sets up the cameras fine the video lags while streaming the signal make it nearly useless to watch the auger unload in real time. There is too much hesitation and freezing to closely watch the grain pile up on the far side of the trailer.

Edit #2 Tablet did some operating system download /upgrade last night and I thought I would try and download the Cam Hi Pro app again and see if I could make it work. This time it opened and allowed me to add a camera when I hit the + button. (nothing would happen before) It searched and found the online camera quickly as well. Better controls on the Pro version and allows adjusting brightness contrast and saturation as well as zooming the camera in and out. Almost no time delay viewing as things are moving. Just wanted to follow up on getting the Cam Hi app working. Probably was mostly operator error (mine) on getting it downloaded and configured correctly.

After entering the camera domain, user name and password it searched 1700 plus camera profiles and came up with 3 different ones that were either a direct fit or were the proper emulation to use ? (for lack of a better understanding or term)

All 3 immediately showed the video feed from the camera. I liked the fact that this app was able to search for and select the correct camera profile.

I was happy that I had not bought a brick of a tablet that could only be used as a larger calculator and screen saver picture frame.

My only issue so far is the Lenova tab won't directly recognize an Excel, Word or PDF file ?

My phone can open those easily so what is the issue there ?

I'm sure I need to add a few more apps to accomplish that as well any suggestions there ?

Tablet also easily downloaded Philo, Distro and Pluto TV apps and plays those just fine when within range of home WiFi connection.

Here are a couple looking down at the gravel behind the combine on the tablet.

Here are a couple pics captured from the Cam Hi phone app looking into the truck.

This was my main goal to be able to see the far side of the truck when filling.

Hope the info and additional app link is helpful to others.
