SE Nebraska | I remember growing up and knowing there was a gun in the house. My Dad educated us that if not handled properly a gun could be dangerous. The funny thing is my siblings and I never played with the gun and never were injured by it. I'm quite sure that if the occasion arose that we would need the gun to defend ourselves that we could have done a relatively good job of doing so. I guess my point is that instead of hiding guns from kids maybe we should spend more time educating them on how to properly handle a gun. You will never stop all accidents from happening. However, I would bet that kids who know how to properly handle a gun know that if used improperly that guns can injure someone. My opinion is that the more you educate your kids the less likely they are to accidently find a gun and want to play around with it. | |
