We have had two sets of narrow ripple plow coulters on our DMI injector applicator and have had no problems with "blowing out" too much soil. I could see where the wider (3/4") coulters might do that in some soils, but these are only about 1/4" wide at most, probably more like 3/16", and the injector hits them fairly well. The applicator is about 10 years old, but is the same as the current model, and will probably need the third set of blades in another year. Each set of blades wears out about two sets of coulter bearings...liquid N is hard on them.
