Gettysburg, PA | Many farmers here started that way. I guess they didn't want the full commit? Anyway, many are still running that setup and some have progressed to two 13" spoked. If it works for you, go for it. One item of note: farmer here had fertilizer banded to the side and was not paying attention to the connection between the spoked wheel and the fertilizer band. The short story: the corn did considerably better when the fertilizer band was on the same side as the spoked wheel. I guess you can surmise that the roots were able to penetrate the sidewall better on the spiked side and could get to the banded fertilizer sooner. | |
