Southeast North Dakota
Well, I have four semis on my farm. My first one came about 12 years ago, and it's still going. A 1985 IH 8670 cabover, 855 Cummins 350 HP, 13 speed, jake brake, and I paid only $2700 for it. The trailer behind it is a 1980 model Hawkeye 42' grain trailer w/roll tarp that I paid $4000 for. So for $6700 I had a semi, and it's hauled an enormous amount of grain. I'd say if you can find a rig like I started with that's about as economical as you're going to ever get. Over the years I've fixed rust on the trailer and repainted it, and done a few minor repairs to the truck but it's still a cheap grain hauler.
