Flat faced couplers also cost 3-4 times more. Other advantage of newer style ag couplers is they often have break away built into the female couplers. Flat faced will stay locked together.

My newer bobcat couplers will also allow pressure release in the hoses before disconnecting hoses by pushing the couplers in before releasing the hoses. Makes hooking them back together much easier since any pressure has been released. Flat faced couplers will allow higher flow rates due to the design. Some skidsteers can flow 35+ gpm. A tractors hydraulics may produce more overall flow from the pump but not through any one valve.
