Subject: RE: 2004 mf 8280 good bad

BENTON, MO

We have a 99 model 8280 with 2800 hours and have had very little mechanical trouble with it.  This tractor is turning 275 hp from the factory and and on most field work run the motor at 1800-2000 rpm.  Its easy on fuel and seems to have plenty of power.  Turning radius is good on 30" rows.  Transmission shifts smoother than our Magnums.

Things I don't like.  MF dealer is the only one that can work on the Susi motor.  This tractor doesn't have the deluxe seat.  Pto seal leaks and the shop foreman said its very expensive to fix.  The side panels bolt on.  The AC vents all point down instead of pointing back at you.  Makes for a poor ac system.  The 18.4x46 tire are too small, not enough traction.

Overall it's a good tractor which I could recommend.
