I use the 8 mill blue nitrile gloves sometimes when doing mechanic work to keep from getting my hands so messed up. They are good if working with fuel or gasoline are if you are packing bearings. They also give some protection from cuts and scrapes doing auto engine repair in tight places. Your hands will be sweaty in short order but I have found they do provide some warmth in cold weather for jobs that you can't use regular gloves. I have used them over thin cotton gloves for a water proof cold weather glove. I have wanted to try a pair of the mechanics gloves I see around but they always seem sort of expensive but they really wouldn't be if they hold up well and I didn't lose them.
