Several yeats ago I had a saw that had a tip guard. Didn't take long to take the thing off & throw it in the junk pile. It was always in the way, either had to remove it to sharpen chains or when cutting larger limbs. As others have said, pratcie safe sawing techniques and think before you cut and you should be ok.
