Subject: RE: Sunflower Drill No-tilling into Corn Stalks

I own 2 Sunflower drills, one with the offset openers and one with the (so called heads up openers), I can personnaly advise you that the offset openers will cut and penetrate residue and soil with half the down pressure as required with the ( heads up) openers. I have repeatedly spoken with the sunflower engineers as to why they changed the opener arrangement, their reply has been a claim that the (heads up) design is better. My take on this is that they had a design angle flaw in the offset openers, and instead of fixing the problem they gave up on it, and went back to old technology and called it (heads up).
