If using a single axle dolly you can block or weld the 5th plate solid and then make the hitch so it pivots. We have a timpte pup set up that way. My cousin uses a tandem axle dolly when he hauls hay with our flatbed and he just made the hitch so it pivots and centered the 5th plate over the axles. No problems there either.
