Subject: Why does a Detroit lower a trucks value?

South-central Nebraska
Found a low mileage truck (KW T800) that is considerably lower priced than others very similar that had a Cat or Cummins. This one with approx 250K is about the same price as a similar Cat or Cummins equiped truck with 500 to 700K. It does have a direct drive 10 speed but the dealer(s) said this is not a limiting factor.

It has a very clean 12.7 Detroit series 60. Is this considered a small block? Was this the only engine Detroit offered 7 to 10 years ago? Local truckers always said they hoped the green Detroit would ripen under the hood into a yellow Cat!
