Subject: RE: roller behind a no-till drill

Driftless SW Wisconsin

Most of the roller setups I have seen use a trailed roller pulled with a hitch attached to the planter or drill frame. The roller pushed rocks down, kinks the corn stalks and is especially useful when direct cutting edible beans.

We get folks row crop planting edible beans into spring strips made between standing corn stalks then pulling a roller behind the planter. Stalks also protect the young bean plant. Stalks break down kinked but don't blow since they are still attached to the ground and on the surface.
