Upstate New York
Crowbar, it's a 9630 weighing 52,000 lbs. The ground that the picture is taken is fairly heavy clay, HP isn't the issue , it's more about weight and traction. The tractor is usually ran about 1400 RPM's and I usually run in 2nd or 3rd depending if there is any rocks or how far ahead the guy ahead of me is stringing out the tile. The tile is baughman tile, no sock and I just use the chain to watch my depth. Most of our fields have some type of grade that a laser isn't needed. We just bought this plow last year and before this one we had the same thing but 3 point hitch mounted. The biggest advantage to that one was the draft of the plow aided traction alot better than the drawn type that we have now but the same downward draft made it hard to control grade because the tires would squat with the changing load. The new drawn plow is definitely better, grade control and being able to turn on a dime is by far easier.
