Subject: RE: jd 7240 planter

NW Tennessee

IMO they are a really good planter but they are pretty tail heavy. I planted approx. 2,000 acres per year with one for five years, 8-30's and 15-15's. I pulled mine with a 2WD JD 4840 for three years and then with a JD 8200 2WD the other two. I made it fine with either tractor. I have a neighbor that pulled one about the same time with an IH 1066 and I was told it was a little light on the rear end for that planter. He preferred to pull it with his JD 4755 or 4760, I forget which he has. Anyway, the planter always did a good job for me, just pretty hard to transport on the roads around here.
