| Mark, from where I sit, you are an exception. There are certainly many farmers that are capable of doing this on their own, and EHoff may very well be one of them. But there is a larger number that may have some idea of what they want to do, agronomically, but have no clue how to "do the math". Those that don't have a relationship with an agronomy professional end up calling their software vendor for that support. We can tell them how to subtract the N in DAP from a total N recommendation, but we certainly won't help them with the philosophy of the N Rec. What I wasn't clear on was whether EHoff was looking for agronomy help or asking about the mechanical tools that he would need to get started. No mention of acres, etc. That lack of detail is probably why they got the "find a professional" responses.
