Subject: RE: chevy anti lock brake problems

The problem is one or both of the front ABS sensors "dropping out" as we call it. The faulty sensor is not reading the speed signal at low speed there by activating the ABS system due to reading wheel slippage. Without a scan tool to monitor wheel speed, it is difficult to determine which sensor is causing the malfunction.
The sensors are located in the front wheel hub assembly and are accessed by removing those newly installed rotors. They are retained by a single metric allen head bolt and are easy to change. There was a recall from GM about cleaning the mounting surface of the ABS sensor but it fixed very few with the same problem you are experiencing.
The sensors are available seperate from the hub bearing and retail around 100.00 fromGM. May be cheaper from the local parts hpouse.
