It is easiest to bite the bullet and just go the whole Martin system. DavidM's comments are it exactly.
Still, you have to do what you have to do. I had fun playing with the combinations until I just gave up and did what has already been ironed, tested and proven.
Some guys have a better idea and those are the ones to copy.
