Ethridge, TN | The first pic in that post shows what is causing your problem. That notch at the end of the flight, at the straight throw plate, is going to allow for pieces of straw, and anything else to cause a "wrap", which is going to build a plug and constipate the system. Pull the auger out, take your hand grinder, and smooth that notch out so that it's a gradual transition, and your problem should go away. While you have it out, just grind the edge of the flight, where it is rounded so bad, so that you "square" it up, and that will also make it carry more, because what it's pushing isn't trying to crawl under it. Don't get carried away with the grinder, just enough to square it off.
When I was still running standard platforms, used to take the grinder and square the auger edge once every year, and it would make them feed a whole lot better. | |
