From my experience an air reel doesn't help feeding in normal conditions,extremely short beans maybe. Standard reel can be more aggressive with pulling stalk in. Air reels cost allot and more moving parts to wear out, it takes a lot of beans to payoff and the losses between the to aren't noticeably different. We have run both for several years,harder to get an operator to stay with air reel machine to much dust blowing around
