when I went from solenoid valves to ball valves on my sprayer (best improvement I ever did to the sprayer) I had to run one extra constant hot wire to the ball valves. This constant hot wire is what closes the ball valves when you turn the individual switches off. Your current individual wires are what turns the ball valve open and of course you need a ground wire.
