Yes it is possible to hook a different receiver up to it but it will only work in certian applications. You can use it in Yield Mapping and Field Doc, But not Autotrac, Field doc connect, or parallel tracking. But any other application it will work. As long as your non deere receiver can send out the correct signals and is configured correctly. You need the following NMEA strings turned on GGA, GSA, and RMC. Also set the baud rate to 4800 data bits 8, parity none, stop 1, and flow control none. Then you can hook up the rs232 signal transmit wire from your receiver to pin location F, and hook the rs232 signal ground wire to pin C. Most companys make a harness that will just Y into the mobile processor connector to ease the installation. I would contact them first and see if they say it can be hooked up. Hope this helps.
