Subject: Hey Mr. Morgan, were you in Illinois? :)

The only way to fill a pond is to take the muck out first down to solid ground then fill it up. That mud hole will be there for many years to come. Better remember where it was or someone might snap a picture of your combine bottomed out next fall:)

Charlie cleaned out a large pond when he first started doing dirt work, spread out the dirt to let it dry because he was going to get to keep it and we figured he could eventually sell it for top soil. Laid out about 12" deep for 3 years, we stirred it with a field cultivator every time we were close to break it open again, came very close to getting stuck several times. Three years later it was still muck under the surface. Been 5 years now and it's finally dried out and turned into something productive. I think what helped more than anything was a crop of weeds that finally grew on it sucked the moisture out.

As for Cats being stuck those don't qualify, to be stuck you need to be able to walk off the platform onto ground level without stepping down, then you've got a problem. With the hoe there anyway it would take some work, but you just got to get to solid ground.
