| I have seen this happen several times. You wont need to worry about losing your hard drive or any data over this issue. Yes, the motherboard BIOS knew the CPU wasnt getting cooled as it should and shut the system down. You just need to have the heat sink mount replaced. All will be well after that. Any decent tech shold be able to tackle this job. Be sure they use a good heat sink paste, even if you have to buy a tube of it...it makes a big difference.
