You guys wanting a small, clean, quiet diesel engine like they sell in Europe in a 1/2 ton or smaller US pickup, you are in luck----if you can wait 3 more years :(

While searching for info on ULSD,I ran across a couple of articles, one about Ford having a Rover designed high performance 4.4 L diesel V8 for the f150 and SUV's ,that is as quiet and clean as a gasser but makes 300+ HP.
Another article in the same list of hits was that GM is developing a small V8 diesel that uses a common rail fuel system with up to 5 little injection events per power stroke and is a 4 valve 4 cam engine. Reported to be possibly twin turbo and making 300+ HP like Ford's 4.4.
The bad news is that neither is to be avalible untill the 09 or 10 model year :(
