Subject: Re: Strip-Tilling Rates

Hoxie, KS, Northwest Kansas
We have been banding our fertilizer for 10 or 15 years now. 7.5 inches away on each side of the plant. We went to strip till 4 years ago and got away with banding on each side now we do strip till and 2x2 on our planter. We had been using an agronomist until this year when I took over our crop consulting needs since he pursued a new job. We have been able to reduce rates to a 1.2lbs/bu for N 75% of broadcast soil test for P and K while increasing our yields due to more efficient fertilizing like chemigation and sidedress. We are raising 220-240 bushel irrigated corn year in and year out with once every five years or so getting 240-270. Hope this answers your question.
