I think you still need to look at the cost of drying vs the possible cost of leaving it in the field a while longer. If you have your own drying setup and gas locked in that makes the cost lower. However many northern elevators are getting about 10 cents a point to dry it. Taking near 30% corn to near 15% at the elevator is about $1.50 per bushel! Now if you've got some of that $7.00 corn out there then maybe it makes sense but if you've got $3.50 corn out there it means you really have $2.00 dry corn in the elevator. If they will even take it that wet or you can mix it.
There is no one answer to this question of to go or not to go. You need to look at the economics locally of the cost of drying and rutting etc compared to the possible field losses. And these will vary depending on the price you have locked in, if any, and your own costs of drying. There are other possible costs such as idle labor etc. I don't think there is one answer to the go or wait question.
