Subject: Deere 7400 tractors

SW North Dakota
We are looking to upgrade our loader tractor from our 4030 JD to something a bit newer. After searching I find that most 4250s run about the same price as the mid 90s model tractors. So I was thinking maybe a 100hp 7400 would do the job. Now I have a few questions. What kind of transmission do these have? is it the same setup as quad-range? and how good is this for a loader(constant fwd and rev). Why are these tractors cheaper compared to the older 50 series? Are they not built as well? Also I know the 466ci was a good motor. How does the 414ci compare? If anyone has any imput or experience with this machine please share. Thanks!
