Subject: Re: Ag Leader/New Leader ?

THe dual bin spreader required two different CFR numbers. (CFR calibrated flow rate- this is determined by using a 1" feedgate opening x width of feedgate opening x conveyor distance traveled in 1 conveyor drive shaft revelution). THe front hopper is a larger output than the rear hopper. The theoritical CFR for the front is .256 and the rear hopper is .144. Doing catch tests around the country, a good starting point for the front hopper is .225 for MAP-DAP-Potash or a blend of these. Urea will be .218. This is just because of density and the flow characteristics of the products.

The rear hopper will be .124 as a starting point for MAP-DAP-Potash or a blend of these. Urea will be .118. These are only starting points.

A catch test done on Potash, MAP, DAP or a blend could be set for the same CFR because of the product density and flow characteristics. Urea will be different again because of density and flow characteristics.

Ag Lime will be different also and usually this will be .234 CFR. A catch test is done to correct any variable such as slippage of product on the conveyor, not having an exact amount of product being dispense that you have the controller programmed for or other.

Fan frame starting point for an 80' spread width for MAP-DAP-Potash or a blend is 3.5 with a spinner speed of 750-780.

Fan frame starting point for an 80' spread width of Urea (2.8-3.4 mil size granule) will be 3.75 with a spinner speed of 700. A granule size of (1.4 to 1.8 mil) with these same setting will only be a 70' spread width. If you use a polymer coated Urea, this product will spread about 10' wider than tyipcal Urea settings.

Starting point for ag lime is fan frame at 0 to 1 with a spinner speed of 600-650

Hope this helps!
