Keith, I've always thought a cover crop would be good. But what am I going to put in the ground now that has enough time to grow enough to make a difference? Usually, not long after harvest or even during we could get a good frost ( -10 C ). I'm not sure what will survive that?

Some guys around here rotate with wheat, but they bale the straw. How is that better than soybeans in terms of organic matter? I  don't think there's an advantage other than a break from diseases. Besides, I'm not into loosing money with wheat and corn. Any other ideas?
