Central, IA | I suppose it could be cut if your careful. The connectors are deutch plugs. Right after the connector is a voltage suppressor that will ground the RS 232 lines to ground if voltage gets to high under a surge. The foil jacket is also hooked to the ground. There is no signal loss by buring or tieing up the extra cable. If I was to do it, I would cut off one of the ends a foot back and spice it in there, but be very careful that everything is still grounded. I've lost 2 radios to lightning in the last year and the last strike took out the voltage suppressors and the receiver at the base as well.
If I had to do it again the radio would be at the base. | |
