WCIN | The first number is the length, the second a class which means size. Like shotguns, the smaller the number the bigger the bore/pole diameter. A 40-4 is a 40 ft pole, class four width and has a fat butt which means a fat hole. A 40-6 is 40 ft tall with a skinny butt, not too many of those around anymore, the tree farm poles have rings so far apart it takes a fatter butt on a new pole to equal the strength of a skinnier older pole grown in a forest with rings close together. | |
