Central, IL | For the freaking life of me I cannot understand why some people insist on planting conventional hybrids. As I roll trough the fields picking corn and the yield montior drops off 30 or 40 bushel when I get into my refuge rows (ONLY HALF THE HEAD) I just dont understand the bull headedness. What I mean by that is, if you grow for a conventional premium o.k. I understand, but if you just say,"I HAVE NOT, WILL NOT" I dont get it. Personally I like to pick 240 bu corn that is standing and not flat on the ground. If you dont like the RR program and are worried about weed resistance then use a conventional chemical. Sorry about the rant but I know a couple of guys like this and moan a groan all year about their corn but wont hesitate to say "WERE ALL CONVENTIONAL." I should probably be thanking them for bringing the average yield down and making my crop more valuable than getting worked up. | |
