Subject: Heck of a day harvesting corn

Kansas
Was going fine til around 2 when dad got the grain cart too close and now I know what it is to damage an auger on a Gleaner. The spout hit the back of the cart and bent the whole tube upwards and even bent the auger inside. I'd been telling him all day to stay a number of rows away but for some reason he still does it like dumping in wheat not realizing I can't swerve one way or the other. Going to get new one in morning and if they have it going to get the Gleaner 3ft auger extention. Wish they could make carts with lower sides but I guess unless it's a bottom auger cart it can't be done and hold any amount. I know I'm not the first guy to whack an auger and probably won't be the last. Just really bummed after that. Happened so fast.
