This is what I remember hearing from others, not from experience: The 4230 and early 4430 had a two pinion differential that had some problems, especially with 4430's and heavy drawbar loads. The late 4430's had a 3 pinion differential that was a lot stronger. Therefore, I would not want to go over about 120 hp for heavy drawbar loads.
