Subject: RE: replaced mine

We had a 40 year old water line patched last winter and after looking for the line for a while I made a comment to the backhoe guy that we should put in a hydrant at the end of each line to make them easy to find.  A neighbor who does septic system work said one time he had to dig up a septic tank for a lady who knew exactly where the tank was because her husband built the house and he ended up digging around three sides of the house before they found it.  We have some water lines that need replaced and when we do it I want to put a tracer wire down with the pipe so we can find them with a metal detector in the future.
