Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning.
I have a small one in my tractor -- it runs off 12V. Have another in the cooler I sometimes carry in my pickup. They work. The cooler is based on a Peltier Junction transistor. When you apply electricity to it, one side gets warm and the other gets cool. Put the warm part of the device on a heatsink outside the fridge and the cool part on a heatsink inside the fridge and the transistor actually pumps the heat from inside to outside. Reverse the plug and the pump will run the other way and you'll have a warming compartment. Common real world ones are capable of cooling to about 50° below ambient. If it is 100°, it won't get very cold in the fridge. if it is 50° outside, they will cool to 0°, freeze and explode a can of pop, and make a big mess in your tractor cooler -- believe me!
