At our main bin set up we run 2 shivvers units. We have a 400 amp service, here is how the set up is divided--- Meter / \ 200amp box 200 amp box l l Shivvers 1 Shivvers 2 2-10hp fans 78amps 2-10hp fans 78amps 5hp motor 30 amps 5hp motor 30 amps 2hp motor 12 amps 2hp motor 12 amps 1hp motor 7 amps 1hp motor 7amps ______ ______ 127amps 127amps Total of 254 amps not counting a couple of 1/2 hp spreader motors. This is if everything is running at one time, which it can be if grain is transferring. I have two questions-I don't have any cooling fans running with the above scenerio, can I run another fan(or two) at 40 amps each?(this is the first year I have had 2-10hp fans on the dryers). I don't want to blow anything because if the power company comes out they would install a demand meter. I know I don't want that. Second quesiton, I have a meter that clamps around the wire to tell amp draw, a guy in town said he thought you just took the amps from one wire to tell the usage, but I think you should take the amps from both hot wires and add them together. Which is right? Oh yea, this is single phase. Wish I had 3 but it is 2.3 miles away. |
