We were in the same situation as you this year. We bought a EZ Guide 500 and haven't regretted it. There is a bit of a learning curve, as with anything else. I would not want to go back to the foam marker on the sprayer. We really haven't tried it on anything else yet, but there's no reason it won't work for what you mentioned. I looked at the EZ Guide Plus several years ago but didn't bite. I also like the bigger color screen of the 500 vs. the plus. Just my 2 cents.
