Subject: Mounting rail with (Pics)

Boyden, Iowa Sioux County
I like to mount the FMD and/or Insight on a "rail" along the side window. The pictures are of a 8330 with a FMD and a Trimble 432 receiver. There are two flat straps spaced 3/8"+ for bolts that can slide the length of the window area. This is a copy of another one I saw that also had a tray mounted lower in the front. I did modify it by raising it so the controls on the right console were more visible.

In my 7920 I have, from front to back along the rail at planting time---Insight for logging varieties, FMD for Autopilot and TrueTracker control, Smart Box control head, and JD's section control for the planter. There would still be room for another control of some sort along the rail.

As Ted states sometimes there can be glare but usually angling the FMD into a slight horizontal tray fashion will remove the glare. I like to have the FMD or Insight within easy reach for access to swaths and other functions.
