Subject: RE: chaffer ? on 1688

Kevin, I just finished wheat harvest for the most part. The air-jet gave a very nice sample both in the tank and on the ground, but it did have a build up problem with head tips toward the rear of the chaffer. I swapped back to the standard slat chaffer and fiddled just a bit with it and was able to get just as good a sample and no build up obviously. The heavier the chaffer is, the more stress on the bushings and system, but the air-jet just required more maintainence than I think I would want to keep putting up with. I'm not sure I'll sell it just yet as there may a way to fix the problem, just have to find the time to give the fix a try.

If you do some experimenting in corn with your helical, like swap it out and then when you have time, put it back in for a test, would you please let us know how it worked? That is one thing I'll not be changing away from anytime soon, is the helical thresh/seperate concept. But I have'nt ran any corn...............yet.;-)
