Cedar Rapids, Iowa | I haven't used one of those yet, but will be looking into it. This year I used a custom built computer in out planter tractor. The screen was a 10" touchscreen, but it wasn't sunlight readable. The guts of the machine was an Intel "little valley" motherboard with a 1.2GHz processor. I used a M2 DC-DC power supply, which is also a start up and shut down controller. It has 3 wires, ground, power, and a key switched lead. When you turn the key on, it waits 5 seconds then turns the computer on. When you turn the key off, it waits 5 seconds then begins to shutdown. The system is designed specifically for vehicle use.
MP3Car.com is a website for people that have computers in cars. Most of them are using the computer for audio or navigation, but they have some interesting ideas and solutions for running a computer in a vehicle. | |
