Roaming the plains | I think a guy could get a fairly basic reg cab truck with few amenities (Fleet) truck from the mfg fairly reasonable right now. as bad as they are hurting to sell vehicles. Use it for the pulling and field work. I would see what is out there on the used market for 1/2 ton crew cab pickups. I know 2 vehicles to maintain, insure and pay taxes on verses one. However with people dumping the larger gas guzzlers you might be able to find a good deal out there on a 1 or 2 year old pickup.
I haven't looked into this too deeply but feel that your work truck could go a lot of years since it isn't used for all of the short trips and other running around and that would offset the initial cost of a new work truck ordered for your needs.
